Ios7 problems, safari crashes

This new iOS 7 has ruined the whole ipad experience for me. I use this as a browser, email tool and music library. The browser randomly crashes on a very frequent bases, some times a page opens and other times the same page crashes safari and I have to relaunch. The browser seems sluggish I feel like I just took a giant step backwards. Email is clunky and slow to respond, requires multiple touches to change folders. Music sound terrible, has hangs in sound and generally sounds glitchy. Not at all enjoyable.

I wish I had just kept dismissing the pop up asking me to update.

If you asked me a week ago about the ipad I would have told you it was great. If it was lost or stolen I would run out that day and buy a replacement. Ask me now and I would say good riddance.

Apple really blew it on this one, they took an excellent product and turned it into a frustrating pile of hardware. If ios7 was not intended for the ipad 2 why are their servers pushing it out to devices that they should not.

I have searched and found that I am not alone in these problems but have not seen any solutions.

Like you I have become frustrated with the constant crashes on Safari especially on Apple's own web site. I have a first generation ipad so i have been abandoned by Apple and left holding the bag. I suspect that now you are in the same situation. Holding a very expensive frizby. From reading these threads I decided to try clearing the cookies and closing all unnecessary tabs. This helps a lot. I also got the impression that the newer ipads are not having a problem. I went down and bought a new ipad mini 2 and the problem is completely solved. If this one is intentionally made unuseable after a few years by Apple I will be done with them forever.

I have an iPad 3 and i have the same problems after all these months. I sent it to the technical service, but they said that everything was OK. How can they say that, if it's almost impossible to open almost all the webs that you try? I also have many problems with my videos. When I play it, screen starts blinking everytime that I hit any button.

I have installed ios 7.1, but it hasn't improved.

With this two webs, for example, safari crashes in seconds:

www.as.com

www.lagacetadesalamanca.es

This just gets more and more ridiculous. My iPad Air won't access my app store account page on iTunes. I was away so 2 auto renew subscriptions couldn't be cancelled in time using the ipad as I got a white screen and a loading wheel, then it crashed and went back to the home screen.

I'm accessing this thread from my (mac) laptop as it also doesn't respond from within the app store page or my email on the ipad when I click on links.

So the machine isn't even fit for purpose with its own software.

When I was away, I spoke to someone who'd thought that the constant crashing and "bad behaviour" as he put it was just down to his own ipad. This may be a general view, which is why this isn't featuring in the media - does anyone on here know of someone who has no problems at all with their ipad crashing?

Raises hand. I have had two iOS crashes since 7.1 came out, and none in the past 2-3 weeks. I also haven't had any Safari crashes in that time, nor any problems with the app store, or for the most part problems in general. The "keyboard fix" in 7.1.1 seems to have made the keyboard less responsive, but otherwise, I feel with 7.1, my iPad is working as well as every other iPad I have owned (iPad 2 was my first).

I have found 7.1.1 to be fine on both iPad Air and iPad mini. All the nasty problems of 7.1 are gone from my uses of Apps and Safari. Did updates on both pads via WiFi.

And updated to Mavericks 10.9.2 from 10.8.5 without any issues. Solid system for all my uses including Virtual Box and Fusion VMs (Win7 and Windows 8.1.1) on the iMac late 2012.

Speed improvements on my iphone4 looked to work... To bad by the time 7.1 came out I already switched to the LG G2 android based phone.

My iPad w/retina still crashes at least 2-3 times a day. Even on 7.1.1.

I'm done with apple, even the iPod shuffle is a pain to deal with, why would you go out the way to UN standardize your charging cable platform? Why? to make a quick buck? What's wrong with Micro usb?

Sad, i was an apple fan boy since 2004ish it'll ios7 broke my iPad and iPhone, I should have stayed on ios6 I would have never had an issue...

Unless apple breaks my iPad like they did to my iphone4. I'll keep it, but if it ever somes to that I'm getting a Samsung tablet.

But no, ios 7.1.1 still crashes a lot.

I'd stick with the iPad if you go to insecure site that have malware, if not, then android based tablets are superior(there are many, and you have to really look at the specs on them)... Problem is, if you're not a smart user, you can screw your android tablet up like you can a PC. The iPad is more tolerant to users who click or go to "bad sites" aka **** lol.

Sorry apple, you've lost that loving feeling...now it's gone...

Once again why has no one started a class action suit? My "new" iPad Air crashes every day. I have recorded every crash. That might mean something to a judge who believes that this is a faulty product. There are over 30 pages in this thread and I have every email sent from it. 198 to be exact. Plus another thread that has almost as many for the sam thing. No one at apple cares. I have the extended warranty and they will not even honor it!! Shame Apple. For shame.

Warranties cover hardware issues; faulty production, bad RAM, stuff like that. Of course Apple will not bow to your whim for a software issue, as that is going to happen no matter how many replacements you get. Obviously, you are still trying to use sites you know don't play well with iOS, and yet you keep trying, and your device keeps crashing. I have had 2 iOS crashes and 2 Safari crashes since iOS 7.1, and zero since 7.1.1. The crashing problems were *mostly* fixed, which is why this thread sees 1-2 posts a week now, instead of the 10-15 a day it was seeing before 7.1. If you are still crashing that much, on an Air, it is something you are doing, and less the fault of the iPad. I am not saying your problem isn't valid, or that it's okay that it still happens, because iOS 6 ran basically flawlessly for me the entire time I had it, but there are very few posts in this thread anymore, which leads me to believe that most people that were posting here find the fixes acceptable.

I recently bought a new mini2 and have had no significant problems. The fact that Safari will crash occasionally on certain web sites would probably indicate that Apples protection scheme is working. If you are having much more of a problem than others might indicate that one or more of the Apps you have downloaded is causing problems. Some app. Work in that background sending data back to their servers about your habits even when the app is supposedly not running. You might want to clear all cookies and if still a problem go to general settings and erase all content and settings and then be very selective about what you but back on your iPad.

May 5, 2014 5:40 PM in response to H2oplayer

I reckon if anyone can return their ipads to Apple for a complete refund then you should do so... that's the only way they are going to engage with the problem - since the update nothing has changed frequent crashes as per normal

What they took our money for isn't a true 64 bit tablet it can't even run facetime video & safari together without loosing the video - even a Nexus 7 inch can do Skype and Chrome simultaneously so what an absolute joke !!! 😠

Yep. IOS7 is just awful. Safari crashes with regularity, every day, all day. Also regularly get "Safari Cannot Open Page" nonsense, even on this very site. None of this happened on IOS6 and this NEVER HAPPENS ON MY Imac, which is on the same network, so it's not a network issue. Have done reset after reset, cleared cookies, java off etc etc.

Its not user error folks, IOS7 is just garbage.

Jun 3, 2014 1:40 PM in response to Theorbiter

Java doesn't even run on iOS 7 or earlier releases.

Haven't seen a Safari crash on 7.1.1 since - ever.

Sorry your experience is so bad. My iPad Air is problem free for my usage pattern (email for several accounts including Gmail, Outlook IMAP, iCloud, Yahoo, VPN network connection sometimes, LogMeIn, Facebook, Netflix, broker access, Numbers, Pages, Photos, Messages, Skype, Safari browsing, iBooks, Zinio magazines, Dropbox, OneDrive, Goodreader). No games.
