Waveburner - no sound playback - Redbook DDP / CD Master

First of all, in the pref's of WB, did you choose your Audio Driver there? WB has its quirks, I must admit, but it does work even under ML. What I try to avoid at any cost, when working in WB, is the use of any 3rd party plugins!! After producing a DDP master I double check its validity in two other apps: CD-Burn & DDP by HOFA and Wave Editor by Audiofile Engineering. But WB still is my favorite when "lightening fast" title editing and small audio adjustements finally outputting a DDP is needed.

Well that's one of the WB quirks I mentioned before, I have witnessed this phenomenon myself with a Motu interface. Everything worked through it except WB. And to make matters worse I never could get it to work in this particular combination either. At this moment in time I use WB in combination with a great variety of audio interfaces and I do not witnessed (fingers crossed) this problem anymore. I trust it does work with Core Audio for you? You could try another audio interface, but to be honest I'm out of options in regard to solving this problem.

..and to add to the madness.. WB works great with all my different Motus but I cannot get it to work with a client's Duet nor his Fireface.... It really is an odd program at times...

Forget any fixes, WB is not supported anymore by Apple. A so called EOL application.
