Tax on iPhone
This maybe a dumb question but do you have to pay tax when you go into an apple store to buy an iPhone?
I notice that online it's like aprox. $50US extra in taxes for an unlocked iPhone 5S.

If you do not live in the US, you can not buy from the US Apple Store. Your question has no meaning since you can't do it anyway.
IF you live in the US and you make a purchase in the store, sales tax is calculated based on the price of the item you're purchasing and the tax rate for the city and State you are in. If you purchase on-line, it's calculated based on the tax rate at the point of delivery.
No when buying online, the sales tax seems to be added on to the original price of the iPhone so I was wondering if you also have to pay tax on the phone in stores? Cause I don't live in d us and there isn't an apple store in my country.
No I wasn't going to ship it to my country I was going ship it to my aunt who lives in the US. But I see what you mean now. They say that the estimated sales tax applies to the unbundled (unlocked) phones. Thanks anyways :)
Sales tax will be charged based on the address to which the iPhone will be shipped.
You are aware that you will not get any service from Apple, should that be necessary, for a US-sold iPhone in another country? And that you'll probably need to pay VAT and/or import duties when you bring the iPhone into your country? For these reasons it usually works out much better if you buy the iPhone in your own country.
Regards.
Yeah I know, the cost begins for sky rocket. But my aunt is coming to visit my family so she would have brought it in her suitcase for me duty-free :D lol. All my other apple products I bought in my country cause it's just easier that way and then you don't have to wait for it to be delivered.
That is just the price of the unlocked iPhone, that is not sales tax. How much you pay for sales tax depends upon where you buy it and is computed when you complete the transaction.
No, that is not the sales tax, the unlocked phones are $50 higher.
You cannot buy the iPhone from the Apple Online store and have it shipped out of the country.
I would suggest you not ask your aunt to try to smuggle in an iPhone. The penalties for failure to declare are often substantial.
Wow calm down, but in my ("third world") country the policies are not so strict. Electronics like laptops etc are duty free anyways.
Suit yourself. I really could not care less what sort of trouble you might get yourself or your aunt into.
