Mail wont connect to some accounts

My mail has problems "most of the time" connecting to some of mail accounts. The accounts are with different domains and my domains are hosted with the same company dreamhost. My password and settings are corrected and tripple checked. It just won't sync with some of the accounts. This is not a set up problem as far as I am aware. The accounts work fine with other mail software and Ive had to resort to using thunderbird. Any help would be much apreciated. Thank you, SN

I'm on Mountain Lion with the Latest updates and Mail Version 6.6 (1510)

This is on a 13 inch aluminum macbook late 2008 model.

Hello thanks for the quick reply,

I have double checked all the settings and they all work fine via other mail apps and online. All the emails come from the same server.

I recieved this message

- "The server returned the error: The attempt to send data to the server “(null)” failed."

Again it sounds like a setup problem but it isn't as I use it with other email apps. I'd love to use mail again.

What the connection doctor says about inacurate info or ssl. I checked the keychain access for passwords, online, and on other email clients and they are fine. The server also is setup for ssl as the other accounts come from here as well that are working. Here is what the connection doctor says:

"Could not connect to this IMAP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSl. If it does not, deselect the "use SSL" checkbox in the Advanced tab of Account perfereces."

It seems to be somthing with the mail app itself.
