Change to 24hr clock. Bug only exists on 12hr time.
I had the issue with 00:00 replacing my coutdown timer. I tested it on a "known working phone" and established that it it supposed to work in both modes (24h-time turned on and off). I attempted putting the iPhone in recovy mode then restored from the backup and issue was still present. Need to restore iPhone like new without a backup.
Do they read this forums? I mean..i had the same problem people had in 2007 and my phone have only 1 year..
Do they fix? Or this custommer support doesn't exist?
Apple nevermore..
No, Apple do not read this forum.
Did you search/read this forum yourself?

No.
Submit your feedback directly to Apple using the appropriate link on the Feedback page:
Or, use the Contact Us link at the bottom right of every page for more options.

I have a 4S with iOS7.1. The timer shows and counts down correctly on the lock screen in both 12H and 24H formats.
Mine worked just fine (also 4S with most recently ios update), until friday.
Put my timer to wake up for class, and..1h late.
I found out the problem yesterday:
Somehow (and it is somehow, since I just edit the time, not the song)
It changed from "when timer ends: alarm" to "when timer ends: stop playing"
Still lost some recordings (wich people complained years ago) tough..
@meg
Thank you :)

Have you tried using the Alarm function rather than the Timer to wake yourself up?
I use the timer because usually I have 15-20 nap time between work and school, so it's easier just to set the timer :p

"Siri, set an alarm for 15 minutes."
iOS 8 on iPhone 5S still has this bug.
Seems amazing that Apple still hasn't fixed it
I Think i found a workaround to this bug:
I went to. Settings>General>Language&Region... Change you region format to Zimbabwe.
Nothing on my phone has changed from how it was, the time is AM/PM and my date format is still the same as my home format (UK) and the countdown timer works on the lockscreen
Issue effects iOS8 / iOS8.1,
and also applies to all regions were Pound Sterling is used e.g. United Kingdom, Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man .etc
@scottmcc88: setting the region to Zimbabwe or many of the others that work does fix the problem, but hopefully this will get a real fix and we wont have to wait tell iOS10 before its truly resolved..
Summary:
Typically when a timer is set on iOS via Clock > Timer > e.g. 10 mins, the user is able to see the countdown on the home screen after the device is locked.
However if the below conditions are true, this always fails:
- Users region is UK: Settings > General > Language&Region > United Kingdom (or others effected)
- Time time is not 24hr format: Settings > General > Date & Time > 24-Hour Time (off)
Steps to Reproduce:
Do the below in order:
[01] Settings > General > Language & Region > United Kingdom (or others effected)
[02] Settings > General > Date & Time > 24-Hour Time > (off)
[03] Clock > Timer > e.g. 10 mins
..
[04] Lock the device to see the lock screen
[05] Timer Always displays as 00:00
Expected Results:
Timer should count-down e.g. 7:32, 7:31, 7:30 .etc
Actual Results:
Timer Always displays as 00:00
Version:
iOS 8 and iOS 7
