How do i open a .sit file!!!

How do i open a .sit file!!!

i have recently upgraded to 10.4.6 and it does'nt seem to understand .sit files ???

why is this should that sort of thing be backwards compatable?

do i need to get stuff it expander again?

is'nt there a 10.4.6 equivilent?

Hello,

Yes, you need Stuffit Expander to extract SIT files.

OS X 10.4.x does not include Stuffit Expander with it's installation. It used to be included with older versions of the Mac OS, but Apple quit installing it automatically.

Hello,
Thanks your info below. I have just download a couple of SIT files from internet to Desktop. Desktop already has Stuffit Expander 10.0 software. But when I click to open the SIT file, I get the following strange text:

StuffIt (c)1997-2002 Aladdin Systems, Inc., http://www.aladdinsys.com/StuffIt/
