Using OSX 10.6.8, Safari 5.1.10, Mail 4.6. For the past couple days I cannot retrieve mail or send. Safari only will work on a few sites and is slow. I've tried other browsers and mail programs - they all work fine. Prefer Safari & Mail. Anyone else having the same issues? Any fix suggestions?

For Safari. Empty the cache more often. Command + Option + E. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Carolyn, Thanks! I've tried that - and everything else I can think of, several times - no improvement.
Try Safari in another user acocunt. That will narrow down if the issue is just your user account or not.

I set up a new user account. Actually seemed even worse. Safari didn't seem to work at all.
Is there anyway to start from scratch with Safari & Mail?

Zero progress. 😟 Can't even connect to apple.com with Safari.
Am seriously considering Firefox & Thunderbird as replacements for Safari & Mail.

I DLed Firefox & Thunderbird. Both work perfectly. I'll stay with them instead of wasting my time trying to get Safari & Mac Mail up and running.
FYI... Been using Firefox & Thunderbird with great success. Here's the latest wierd update: I opened Mac Mail to get an email address and Mail started working properly. Checked Safari. It also is working correctly. I had done nothing. Sure is strange!
