Music on iPhone 5 with iOS7 show up incorrectly in iTunes 11.1

After switching to iOS7, when I view the music on my iPhone 5 through iTunes, the music shows up incorrectly. Even when there is no music on the iPhone some still shows up in iTunes and can't be deleted or removed. Is there a way to fix this short of formatting the phone?

As you can see in the screenshot, the bottom bar shows no music and yet iTunes still shows music on the phone, albeit grayed out or with the error exclamation mark.
