I have an iMac with iPhoto ,

I have also an iPad and an iPhone .

All up to date software.

I have something like 2060 pictures in iMac's iPhoto .

After syncing my iPhone something like 1000 pictures added to iPhoto ???

You can see the amount of pic in the att screen pic = 2060 and from  the iPhoto folder   3246 ...

PS the iTunes was open all the time.

Trash and all other folders are empty .

Ok - thanks for sharing  --  do you have a question?

Note that is you import photos via PhotoStream and then again via syncing using iTunes you will have two copies of each photos so imported

    Thank you for responding.

    Sorry that i didn't  ask ....

My question is how there is about 2060 pic ( see the second pic ) but the folder say that there is 3246 pic.

So how can I fix the problem ? ( reduce to 2060 from 3246 pic )

    THANK YOU !

In the Photos mode where the screenshot was taken disable View ➙ Event Names so you can see all of the photos in the library. Click on one thumbnail and type Command + A (Select All).  How many photos are indicated in the upper right hand corner of the iPhoto window:

If the numbers are the same then there are 3246 photos in the library.  If you suspect some of them are duplicates you can use one of these applications to identify and remove duplicate photos from an iPhoto Library:

    A question please :

What if I delete or uninstall iPhoto and start import all my photos again to a new installed iPhoto ?

Do I need only delete my photos and events ?

Do I need to uninstall all photo media ?

Do I need to uninstall iPHoto as it appear now ?

My wish is to start again from fresh ...

    Thanks

You need to understand iPhoto - iPhoto is a photo manager - there is an iPhoto application and an iPhoto library (there can be multiple libraries) - the application processes yoru photos - the library holds them

To start over from zero you simply drag the iPhoto library (by default in yout pictures folder) to the trash and empty it and launch iPhot - it will prompty you to choose a library or create one - crate one and yhou now are a zero ready to start anew

Where would you be importing your photos from?  Do you have ALL of you photos backed up somewhere that you can reimport into a new iPhoto library?  Or are some of your photos only in you current library?

Have you tried any of the duplicate photo apps (like the free one) to see if you do have  duplicates in your library?  If you do using one of those apps to cull out the duplicates would be easier that trying to start over from scratch.

Unless you have the photos that were in your library before syncing with your iPhone backed up somewhere else, you're stuck with fixing your current library or losing many of your pictures.

Thank you all for your replies.

    I've try this :

On a new external HD :

    1. Make new folders named each one as an iPhoto event.

    2. Copy all photos to the HD folders correspondently

    On my iMac :

    3. Open iPhoto with ALT pressed to make a new Library.

    4. Copy (back) to the new iPhoto Library all the photos from the HD

    5. Chack that the new iPhoto Library has all my Pictuers.

    6. Delete by moving to Trash the "OLD" iPhoto Library.

The new iPhoto Library has now 9 GB size instead of 19 GB as before.

Now I need help please :

I also have an iPhone and an iPad.

These devises have Pictuers with events based on the "OLD" iPhoto / iTunes database.

I want now to build all my Pictuers with the new OK. Base.

Do I need now to delete all my Pictuers on the devices and after sync to my iMac vie iTunes ?

    Or ???

    Thanks.

    4. Copy (back) to the new iPhoto Library all the photos from the HD

No  --  You never, Never, Never make any changes of any sort to the structure or content of the iPhoto library - to put photos into an iPhoto library you must IMPORT them - that is the only way

I think that I've imported them , now my iPhoto is looking OK

    1. How can I find any "Log" or history ?

2.in the "last import" folder  i don't see all the pic...

  • LarryHN Level 9 Level 9 (70,560 points)

I only know what you say  - there is no log - the last improt is exactly that - the last [very last] import

Look in event to see what you have

All the events are OK ,

That means that its OK ?

  • LarryHN Level 9 Level 9 (70,560 points)

Yes - if it is OK with you then it is OK
