iPhone 5 won't recognize (or be recognized by) my iPad with bluetooth

iPhone 5 won't recognize (or be recognized by) my iPad with bluetooth. There was no issues in the past when I used my iPhone 4...but the iP5 won't recognize the iPad. Ironically, it will recognize bluetooth headphones. Am I missing something?
