Trying to sign into iTunes store, get (-50) unknown error. Help please.

Hey, i'm a new user to the Apple world and only started using the iTunes today. I logged in fine about an hour ago and everything was working fine. Although when I went to log just now, a error came up.

The error said "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occured (-50) There was an error in the iTunes store, please try again later."

I've tried logging in and out of iTunes, but still it doesn't work. I'm not trying to buy anything, just want to log into the store itself. Is anyone else just having the problem? Is the store down? I know that can happen sometimes.

Help please, i'm really confused and yeah.

I'm having this error as well.

It was suggested to log in and out of my iTunes account, so I logged out. Upon logging in, I was greeted with a different error (11503). No clue why to either.

Edit: In addition, upon trying to buy an IAP, I was getting an error saying my request could not be completed.

Oh thank god i'm not the only one, I mean there are loads of us judging by this form.

I did try and log out of it, as the same was suggested to me, but it didn't work :/ I've looked on other forms and on the support page they are saying that the iTunes store is down to some users.

I tried downloading the Tumblr app on my phone and it didn't want too, couldn't connect. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Here's a possible fix for Error 11503 and for error 50.

It worked for me and hopefully it will work for you.

I believe this error is caused by the incomplete downloading of either an update to an app, or perhaps a big music file. In my case it was caused by closing the lid on my laptop when I was downloading app updates on a very slow internet connection in a hotel.

Anyway, here is what I did that fixed it completely.

Close iTunes.

Go to this folder : /iTunes/Mobile Applications/Downloads

You'll find tmp files there. Drag them out of this folder to a temporary folder on your desktop. The Downloads folder should now be empty.

Restart iTunes.

All should be fine.

If it's not, then I can't help further, but that's what worked for me.

The following worked for me :

Close iTunes.

Go to this folder : /iTunes/Mobile Applications

Delete all the files inside this folder and run iTunes and sign in with no problem .

What did you do to fix this error? I m trying to log into iTunes using my Win 7 and it continuously gives error -50, though m just trying to sign in no purchases n all. plz help

Figure out Windows Users,

Delete all the PREFETCH and "%temp%" files by

-Open RUN

-type "PREFETCH" Then delete all the files,

-type "%temp%" Then delete all the files

-Restart iTunes!

no need to delete all the files from prefetch just delete all the files starting with apple and itunes most prob there will be 4-8 files starting with apple and itunes respectively!!
