Nano less than 1 year old and battery failure

I know it is not the cables. My Nano is just shy of 1 year old, and battery is dead and will not recharge. I attached to my computer to sync with Itunes, and for a quick flash, I saw the album cover from the last time I used my Nano the day before. Then it was totally black. Now, I am unable to charge the battery, no matter what cables or charger I uses. THe warranty expires October 17th, 2013 which is the 1 year anniversary. Is this covered by warranty?

UPDATE: This morning, I tried to turn on my Nano, assuming it would maintain a blank screen. However, I had a quick visual of a "Charge now"--something to that effect. I immediately connected it to the wall charger, and lo and behold, it started charging!

Yesterday, I pressed the button on the side of the Nano between the volume controls, at the same time I pressed the onn/off button. I used to do this with my old Ipod to reset it. Maybe that is what happened her with my Nano.
