Q: I have IPad 4, software on it and Apple TV are up to date. When I try the upward swipe on my IPad I still do not find airplay controls.

Are you saying that when you swipe, you do not get the control centre or that the control centre does not include the airplay icon.

Same problem here. iPad 4, iOS 7.0.2, ATV updated last night, Home Sharing is working fine,  Netflix, iTunes purchases (TV series) playing fine from computer or direct from iTunes purchase records, restarted iPad several times now. No Airdrop or Airplay icon is showing in Control Panel. I even double-checked the Apple iOS 7 iPad manual to see if I was looking for the right thing, and my control does not show Airdrop or Airplay icons as shown in the manual. Stumped. It won't even mirror my iPad screen, let alone mirror from an app, since there's no option for it showing!

I've just checked my iPhone 5c and airplay is working fine, so it seems to be an iPad problem.

Now this is just crazy. After my last post, now airplay and airdrop icons are showing in the control panel of my iPad 4 and it's mirroring onto my TV screen. I'm wondering if connecting/mirroring my phone first somehow "woke up" the Apple TV mirroring function? Hope it lasts!

That's odd, that's multi-tasking and is activated by double tapping the home button. I'm sure you are, but I have to ask, are you sure you are swiping.

Also, checke settings > control centre to make sure you have access within apps on.

I'd try restarting the device, that's definately not right.

Then maybe you need to restore it.

I just tested to be sure. Swiping up with one finger brings up control centre, four finger swipe is multi-tasking

No problem. Control centre is a feature of IOS 7, so it's been like that since last month
