Why do I get a message that mail can't download because my address is in use on another device?

Sorry none helped. I have 5-Apple devices so have always had "After One Week" checked in Mail Advanced Preferences. The exact message is "Cannot Get Mail. The account _____ is in use on another device." Most if not all my mail appears to be coming in but this message keeps popping up and must be "OK's" before I do do anything else.
