iOS 7 Deleting Messages

Hey everyone, so I downloaded iOS 7 when it came out and I noticed a new thing how it stores your messages to your phone and it takes up space. That's fine with me but the only problem is that everytime I try deleting a conversation it deletes it but I try pressing on a different convo it either doesn't open or it freezes. But if it does open it's a blank convo. So I hard reset my phone or just restart it thinking it'll solve the problem but it doesn't. Instead the messages are still there and it's like I never deleted them. Any tips or help? Thanks guys I appreciate it.

There is no such thing as a "hard reset" in Apple terminology.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

I have the same exact problem and NO space on my phone. Extremely frustrating that I have 11.7 GB in messages that cant be deleted and cannot update my phone at all because I have no space.

Sure they can, manage the content on the device. It's not that difficult, simply go in and delete the SMS/MMS/iMessages that are no longer needed.

That's what we've been trying to do, I've been telling you it doesn't let us. I delete them but when I try closing and reopening my messages it goes blank. It says that I don't have any messages and when I restart my phone it just brings back all the deleted messages. I meant hard reset as in hold the home + lock button at the same time.

There is no such thing as a "hard reset" in Apple terminology.

A reset is pressing and holding the home and power buttons until the white Apple logo appears.

Has a restore of the device been attempted?

My apologies, that is what I meant by hard reset. I have not attempted a restoration but I will tonight. Been very busy lately haven't had the time for it. Will keep you posted! Thanks.

Just went through a full restore unfortunately still not being able to delete messages. I delete them but then when I try going into a convo it erases all the messages except for the last one in that convo and if I close the whole app and reopen it, all my messages are erased and It tells me to compose a new message. I then turn my phone off and back on and all the messages are back even the ones I "deleted" before. Nothing's working.

We are talking about SMS/MMS/iMessage and not email, correct?

If that is correct, it is time to restore as new and not from backup.

A restore as new will put the device in a clean "out of the box" state. Then simply sync media, apps, and other content to the device as desired. There would be no message history on the device.
