Folder on WD disk now does not open, what can I do?

After having to force a shut down, a folder on my WD disk which was in use before my mac froze now does not open after I restarted my mac, what can I do? I tried copy pasting this folder from WD drive to desktop but what happens when trying to open it ,is, the screen goes blank- the WD drive shows on desktop- but closes the page that was active with WD contents. All other folders open as usual except this folder. If I should open the folder directly from drive, screen goes blank and brings me back to WD contents.
