Q: I have inherited an Ipad 1, I think with 3G, does it have an internal gps

I have inherited an Ipad 1 with I think 3G, does it have an internal gps, how can I check this?

On my iPad, running iOS 7.0, in Settings, there is a category called Cellular Data, also in Settings => General => About has a Carrier listed as AT&T, and a Cellular Data Number. You should not have any of that on a wifi only iPad.

Sorry, I'm not asking if I have 3G , I'm asking that if I have 3G then I should have an internal gps unit, is this correct?. I suppose I should just turn of wifi, turn of cellular data, go outside and turn on google earth and see whether the iPad knows where it is.

If you have a WIFi+Cellular iPad, then yes, it has an internal GPS.
