Does anyone know why some songs in my iTunes library would be greyed out but still playable.
I want to keep them but cannot work out why some are grey and others not. What does it mean?
The link below is to a screenie showing an album I bought. All songs play normally but I can't understsand why two are greyed out.
I have iTunes match but the screenshot is the same whether it is enabled or disabled.

I just came across this same problem with a handful of greyed out songs in my itunes. They were playable if I clicked them individually, but itunes automatically skipped them if I played the albums that they were part of. I tried everything from correcting the info to even relocating the file, but couldn't get itunes to stop skipping them.
Turns out the songs that were greyed out were unchecked (even though I didn't recall doing so). I had to add the greyed songs to a playlist to see that they were unchecked - once I checked them off again, the titles were no longer grey and played fine in the albums.
Basically, try right clicking on the song and hitting "check selection" at the bottom of the menu to see if that'll fix it. Hopefully this helps!

Sadly, I am having the same problem, but this doesn't work for me. In fact, they were already checked to begin with. I unchecked them then checked them again. Nothing. 😟 They are all approved ACC purchased songs from itunes. I can't figure it out.
I can play my greyed out songs but I can't play the whole album continuiously, it stops after one song unless I choose to play the next one. I have found that this to be true in 2 out of 15 randomly chosen artists in my collection. It is the whole album, not random songs as in your case.
That is what it was. You're right, you can't see that they aren't selected any more, very annoying.
I hit Command-A to select all my songs while in iTunes, right-clicked and clicked "check selection". This solved the problem for all "unselected" songs. Why this initially happened to my library, I couldn't tell you. An explaination from someone more knowledgable would be great!
This worked like a charm - I had about half of my music library greyed out and only playable individually - but after following this tip, they're all back and play sequentially.

This saved me too! Couldn't figure out if it was Apple Music, iTunes Match, iCloud Music Library, turns out it was a basic iTunes feature that doesn't have any indicator anymore!
