Old podcasts will not transfer to iPhone

I go to "Old podcasts" (within "My Podcasts") and tick the boxes of the old podcasts I want on my iPhone, and the podcasts then appear in the "Unplayed" tab. I then go to my iPhone, select "automatically include all unplayed episodes of all podcasts, and it only show the recent and unplayed episodes. Under the name of the podcast it even says "7 new episodes (4 total). Why won't it sync all of the unplayed podcasts?

Edit: They actually tranferred, they just didn't show up as on the iPhone from iTunes' point of view.
