Oct 3, 2013 6:57 AM in response to foodgood77by Winston Churchill,Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
- Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
- Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
- Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
- Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
- Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
- Restart your mobile device.

Oct 3, 2013 11:12 AM in response to Winston Churchillby foodgood77,But prior to the Apple TV update, mirroring worked without an issue. I have the same network setup as I did then.
I will try taking my Apple TV to another house to test it out on fresh setting to see if it is my network.
Thanks for your help and troubleshooting ideas. -

Oct 3, 2013 7:36 PM in response to robmillerby Chubby Buddy,I'm having the same issue with my Linksys router. Everything worked great until I upgraded my Apple TV. Now it won't work with either of my iPads or any of the four iPhones in our house. I've restarted everything on the network several times and even set the Apple TV back to factory status and did the latest update again. Still no success.

Oct 4, 2013 6:36 AM in response to Winston Churchillby foodgood77,ahhh .. winston churchill is correct. the airplay malfunction has something to do with my house and my network. which is odd, because i didn't change anything prior to the apple tv update.
But I did bring my apple tv to a friends house and set it up on a whole new network and airplay popped up immediately!
so .. any idea what setting would need to be changed in my router? is there a special port or access that the apple tv update requires opened on the router to allow airplay to function?

Oct 4, 2013 8:33 AM in response to foodgood77by robmiller,Hello everyone,
I was able to resolve the AirPlay mirroring issue with my iPad 2 (iOS 7) and Apple TV 3 (wired) by disabling CTS (cut-through forwarding) on my Linksys E3200 (fw: 1.0.04). This setting is located under Administration and then Advanced Features on that page.
I also saw a recommendation to disable WMM Support but when I did this, my iPad couldn't connect to the 5ghz range but your milage may vary for those that need to tweak.WMM Support is located under Applications & Gaming and then QoS.
