Q: iPad updated, Apple TV updated, airplay no longer works. What's the fix?

I have an Apple TV, updated to the latest version. I have an iPad with iOS7. Before the apple tv update, I could mirror iPad to TV without issue. After the Apple TV update, airplay no longer appears on my iPad. Both devices are on the same network, and no setting have been changed since the update. I verified the settings too. How do I fix this?

Other background info...

My parents have an Apple TV (same version as mine) at their place. Different house, different network. Their Apple TV is updated to the latest version. If I bring my iPad over there, airplay pops up immediately and I can mirror my screen.

So what's up with my system?!

AppleTV 2, iOS 7.0.2

    Welcome to the Apple Community.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.

    1. Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
    2. Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
    3. Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    4. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    5. Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    6. Restart your mobile device.

    This also did not work

Then I'd be inclined to think it's related to your network settings in your router.

But prior to the Apple TV update, mirroring worked without an issue. I have the same network setup as I did then.

I will try taking my Apple TV to another house to test it out on fresh setting to see if it is my network.

Thanks for your help and troubleshooting ideas.

I have the same problem! And it occurs wired and on wifi... I'm using a Linksys E3200 Router for the curious.

I'm having the same issue with my Linksys router.  Everything worked great until I upgraded my Apple TV.  Now it won't work with either of my iPads or any of the four iPhones in our house.  I've restarted everything on the network several times and even set the Apple TV back to factory status and did the latest update again.  Still no success.

ahhh .. winston churchill is correct. the airplay malfunction has something to do with my house and my network. which is odd, because i didn't change anything prior to the apple tv update.

But I did bring my apple tv to a friends house and set it up on a whole new network and airplay popped up immediately!

so .. any idea what setting would need to be changed in my router? is there a special port or access that the apple tv update requires opened on the router to allow airplay to function?

    Hello everyone,

I was able to resolve the AirPlay mirroring issue with my iPad 2 (iOS 7) and Apple TV 3 (wired) by disabling CTS (cut-through forwarding) on my Linksys E3200 (fw: 1.0.04). This setting is located under Administration and then Advanced Features on that page.

I also saw a recommendation to disable WMM Support but when I did this, my iPad couldn't connect to the 5ghz range but your milage may vary for those that need to tweak.WMM Support is located under Applications & Gaming and then QoS.
