iPad 3 charger is about to snap

Despite being extra careful with it, my iPad 3's charger is about to come apart, literally. The tip of the cable where it connects to the piece that goes into the iPad has been bent for months now,and I'm afraid it will snap! My father has an iPhone 5, for a couple of months only, and was shocked when the cable became useless precisely because it became bent at the bit where it connects to the dock thing.

It's ridiculous. We're both really careful with our products and never bend them in any way.

I can't figure out any other way of how the cables could have bent so much. We certainly didn't bend them.

Does anyone have any tips regarding this issue?
