Would I only need this application if I was running a Server?

Under what other circumstances would I use this application? Say, to remotely access my computer from another computer that is not mine, or if I wanted to run someone else’s computer from mine?

What about the following scenario?

Mac Mini being used to run TV and/or audio systems, which I might need/want to tweak from my laptop remotely via the web?

Presently I consider myself an intermediate computer user with some skill setting up, using, and administrating simple WiFi networks, but acting as an Admin. for anything but my own computer is something I’d only consider myself a novice at.

Are there any ReadMe docs or operation manuals for Workgroup Manager, so I can see what it can do and if it would serve my present or future needs?

PS: What are the differences between Workgroup Manager and Profile Manager?

You can use it to manage user, user group, & computer settings/preferences on a standalone computer. For instance, it's one way to enforce specific settings in Finder & many other applications on one or more users/groups.

I imagine that there are basic guides on Apple.com & elsewhere - search by name or in server sections about managed users.
