Jan 9, 2014 7:57 PM in response to oski65by graemegrov, bearbeme: I don't understand how you can use the "original Apple charging/syncing cord", as my Hyundai Elantra doesn't have a USB socket. What am I missing? Can you please explain.
Regardless, I'm thoroughly fed up having to keep track of the last played music track, so I've decided to fix the problem by purchasing my partner's second-hand 4S which I managed to stop her upgrading the OS.
So I'll be able to run the music properly in my car, type entries onto programs without mis-keying and a whole lot of other things I was able to do before that horrible upgrade.
Apple, you've lost me. I'll definitely think twice about buying another Apple product again.
You really need to FOCUS on FIXING PROBLEMS first before constantly introducing new "upgrades" that introduce more problems.
It's obvious that you don't regression-test your upgrades thoroughly before releasing them.

Jan 10, 2014 8:38 PM in response to bearbemeby Antzinyopantz,Just got a 2012 Hyundai veloster, I'm having an even weirder problem. I've already tried two original Iphone 5 cables and non of them even connect to the car. If you plug in the hyundai cable with the 30-pin-lightning adapter, it charges the phone but doesn't let me control the music through the car. I've tried everything but the problem still continues. I'm going to take it to the dealership soon to see if they can fix anything. They sold me the Hyundai cable even though apparently the veloster is one of the only cars that don't use it.

Jan 19, 2014 3:04 AM in response to norm123by Sorinal,Whatever you are doing it will not work. They have changed the rafio on Sonata 2013 and same problem and most of the time when we plug the usb cable to connect the phone it will say Mefia Reading and after 3-4 minutes it will go to radio,it will not connect and i unplug the iPhone sometime 4-5 times to be able to connect....very very frustated...can somebody reply if they have same issue because i can not say is Apple or Hyunday but i need to have this fixed .thank you.

Mar 21, 2014 4:14 AM in response to Jaytee93by graemegrov,I've finally made the switch to another iPhone with IOS 6.1.3 and as expected, everything works perfectly in my Hyundai Elantra, just as it used to.
On my original iPhone, now at 7.1, as usual Apple have introduced more new features and STILL haven't fixed this annoying bug. This iPhone is about to be switched off and effectively dumped.
It's quite an effort, moving everything over to another iPhone with an earlier IOS as Apple doesn't support this backward move, but I believe that it's definitely worthwhile.
It's NOT Hyundai's problem, and simply rebooting an Iphone 7.1 won't fix anything.

Apr 4, 2014 4:02 PM in response to Jaytee93by gentille3,I had the same issues you had, but resolved them with un-pairing the phone, and rebooting my iPhone 4. But, NOW I HAVE A NEW ISSUE....Everything works fine except one thing. I have a 2011 Sonata Limited with Nav Radio, and my iPhone 4 is running iOS 7.1. Now, I cannot get ANY of my contacts to display on the radio. I have tried the reboot, repairing, everything. Does anyone have any other ideas on this? Did Apple change the bluetooth protocols in the last couple of software updates? Everything was working in all versions prior to iOS 7.0. BTW, when I paired my friend's iPhone 5S to my car, it also does not display their contacts either. So, please don't tell me to run out and buy a new phone. Thanks!

Apr 7, 2014 10:40 AM in response to Jaytee93by knbsmom123,I am having huge problems, too...I have a 2013 Hyundai Accent....and when I first connected my 4S when I bought it in August of 2012....everything was great....did the iphone 7.0 upgrade and now nothing....I can't pair my phone....no bluetooth, no music, nothing......it won't even recognize my phone....I have tried everything and buying a new phone (or a new car) isn't an option.....the car was brand new, from the dealer...so I don't believe there is a problem with the car....(and I was told by Hyundai that it has nothing to do with the car).....so, I am left to believe it is Apple....and I would love to know how to rectify this situation.....because it's ridiculous....

Sep 8, 2014 8:23 PM in response to oski65by Maydon,I am very interested in your above post.. I find I am extremely frustrated with trying to connect my new iPod Touch to my car audio system. In early August, I purchased the small adapter in NYC. It worked perfectly for about two weeks. Then nothing. As I live in Toronto Canada, I went back to the Apple and made my complaint. They gave me a new adapter--didn't work. Went back again and this time I tried the Lightning to 30 pin Adapter with the longer cord. It doesn't work! Yikes! All three purchased with authentic Apple products.
So here I am on the Apple Support Community looking for help. I have a 2011 Hyndai Santa Fe.
I wonder if it is possible that the Canadian adapter might be different than the American one. I just find it strange that the first one purchased in NYC worked for about two weeks than nothing.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

Sep 25, 2014 6:35 AM in response to Maydonby fetze1jh,I have been having MAJOR issues with this problem as well. iPhone 5 on iOS 7, 2014 Hyundai Elantra Limited bought in April. List of issues:
-Plug in to the USB port and the screen will flash back and forth between "reading USB" and "reading iPod" and at the same time connecting and unconnecting as if I were plugging in the device and taking it out every 5 seconds.
-Just sit on "reading USB"
-Will work for 3 minutes then switch itself to the radio
-Will not even realize the USB is plugged in at all
One of the service techs and I tried it out in 5 other model cars and they all worked perfectly except for the other Elantra we tried....weird.
Luckily my Hyundai dealership is awesome so they have replaced the USB port completely with a new one, as well as my whole navigation unit with a brand new one too since nothing was working. I got a new phone cable and it worked for a day, then back to the same old problems and then the car would even recognize the cord at all. And then the best kicker- I got an error message in Korean that popped up on my nav unit like you would get on an old Windos XP computer. TechLine has no clue what to do with it so my dealership is escalating the issue higher. So annoying!! All I want to do is be able to plug my phone in and control it through the cars controls and not have to do Bluetooth and deal with a whole other set of issues with song switching and lag.

Nov 2, 2014 10:02 AM in response to fetze1jhby Fanny942,Just purchased a 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT. During the test drive, the Hyundai salesperson "forgot" to mention that I would have issues trying to use my IPHONE 5 (w IOS 8) even while touting the wonderful capabilities of it's Bluetooth functions and related use of steering while controls. I then found out that I would be able to use my very old IPhone Classic but only with the Special Hyundai $40 30 pin cable. No promises re: use the Iphone 5. The glossy Hyundai Elantra pamphlet that is provided at the Dealership also neglects to note this cable as being needed to use a phone/IPOD. Some info is buried in the vehicle manual warning that only older IPhone would work (below IPhone 5). After complaining about these issues, the dealership gave me a Hyundai Cable at no cost, but then pleaded ignorance re: whether an Apple 30 pin adapter would work with IPhone 5. Just in case it would, I went to the Apple store, bought the $40 - 30 pin adapter (ridiculous price and especially high here in Canada) , but NOOOO - while I can use it to charge my IPhone, it basically does not allow me to use my IPhone (freezing, songs mixed up, no use of steering controls, etc). Any use through Bluetooth is also messed up. I already could charge the phone through the power outlet with a USB cable so the 30 pin Adapter is not useful in my car.. I probably could take it back to the Apple store, but will keep it in order to use it with various speakers around my house that all have 30 Pin outlets. Apple should be providing these 30 pin Adaptors at a very low cost given the changes they made to their products, but are not. / The Hyundai dealership says that a new cable that is compatible with IPhone 5/6's will be coming out in "maybe December", but I will believe this when I see it. And again, I will have pay $40-$50 for it - and it probably won't work, since the issue is also with the Operating systems and the relentless upgrades. It ***** spending a bundle on brand new car and you can't use an expensive smart phone that is just over a year old. I won't go into how much I paid for this phone, only to see the price drop by hundreds of dollars when the IPhone 6 came out. This whole situation is REALLY turning me off Apple and turning me off Hyundai. I was all set to invest in IPAD mini, but can't stomach the thought of trying make it functional in my car -or likely in my home (or spending hours and hours trying to sort solutions out, reading forums, buying products that don't work and/or that quickly become obsolete). Sorry if this seems like a rant, but all want to share my experience with others who may be in the process of purchase (of any or all the above noted), and hopefully let APPLE know of that this kind of scenario will impact on sales. Signed ... used to be an Apple fan, but no more.

Nov 9, 2014 7:53 PM in response to Maydonby Maydon,This is an update to my post of September.
Since this post, I have spent a lot time trying to find out what I could do to make my new iPod Touch, latest edition, work with controls in my 2011 Santa Fe. This included several trips to the Apple Store and the Hyundai dealership. These were all unsuccessful.
The thing has been the most frustrating was the fact that the adapter I purchased in the US did work for two weeks, then quit and after that I could not get any Canadian purchased adapters to display song titles or audio books. It just displayed connection error on the screen.
Well that being said, today I am in the US and took a chance and purchased a new 30 pin to lightening pin adapter. Plugged everything in and it now is working perfectly! Not sure what to think and not sure how long this will work!
So a suggestion to Canadian Hyundai owners--try a US purchased adapter and see if it will work!
I will keep you posted!!!!!

Dec 2, 2014 5:12 AM in response to Maydonby adrianzzz,Been having a number of cables shutting down lately, most of them 6 foot long cables I bought on eBay to avoid paying $39.99 at the Apple Store
One thing I have discovered is that Apple is installing a chip in their lightning cables that are intended for use in the iPhone 5 models and up. If you purchase a cheap cable from eBay or similar thats not "MFI" (Made For Apple) certified and you update your phone to the latest iOS after a while the phone wont work with a cable that has no chip.
The chip pretty much forces you to buy genuine replacement cables from the Apple store. You can get MFI cables in the aftermarket but its impossible to tell if they really do have the chip in them. There seems to be a lag of about 30 days from the time you update your iOS to the time the cable stops working. Presumably to give you time to attone for your bad behaivour and go purchase a real cable.
I assume Apple has realized there is another enormous revenue stream available to them by extracting royalties on cables and the chip is the ticket they need to make it happen.
Has anyone purchased genuine apple cables and see their connectivity problems dissapear ?

Jan 19, 2015 5:31 PM in response to Jaytee93by itObzerv,Well, in the same vein... since iOS 8, can't play music anymore wit the Hyunday provided cable. SantaFe Sport model 2010.
Filed bug report 19526713, but like all other, it will be filled as duplicate and never be fixed...
