Q: Ipod wont turn on

Hello, I own an ipod classic 160G. Yesterday I charged it fully. After charge it was making a funny noise (not connected to anything). Today I went to turn it on & there is nada from it. It won't turn on at all. Although I knew it wasnt a battery charge problem, I hooked it up to my laptop & it wont turn on, nor does the laptop reognise it. It was bought for me for Christmas 2007....I cannot read the serial number on the back of the ipod, the serial number is also worn off the back of the original packaging (which I still have). I dont have the receipt as it was bought for me....any ideas on what might be wrong or how I can get the serial number in order to get Apple to help me?

    I have an Ipod 5 generation and today i was using and when i put it on top of the counter the screen turned green and slowly turned then i had to let it cool down because it was really hot. But now that its cold it wont turn on for nothing. Does anyone know whats wrong ? Please help ?
