MacBook Air 2013 short battery life?

Hello, I bought a Macbook Air 2013 13" a couple of weeks ago, and I understand that apple has stated that the battery should last around 12 hours with light internet usage, and I've seen some Youtube reviewers that have been able to push it even to 15 hours. Im worried because mine is lasting around 6 hours of regular use I'd say, with screen brightness at half and no keyboard lighting. Is something draining my battery?User uploaded file

as you can see in the image, it says less that 6 hours remaining at 100%.

Dear User's,

I had the same problem, it seams that some apps like dropbox waste a bit the battery but the worst of all is chrome. It uses the gpu alot to speed up web browsing. So it drains your battery very quickly.

Use safari or if you prefere chrome disable gpu usage in chrome://flags ou something like that. Google it...

I Have the same problem guys...Ever since I installed Maverick, I have noticed that my battery life has gone from bad to worse. My average battery life now is around 3 to 4 hours depending on what I am doing. I have the 1.7 GHz i7 processor. My Macbook air is less than 3 months old and I have already noticed the battery life to be progressively deteriorating...Tonight, my computer was fully charged when i left the office at 7.30pm and I used my lap top in the car all the way to dinner and thro dinner. Its now 9.14pm and my battery life is already down to 47% with 1.10 mins or so remaining...I have just been surfing the net and reading docs, no movies...This macbook air was awesome in the beginning and I didn't need to recharge my battery between Hong Kong and Shanghai but now, it no longer lasts the whole plane/car trip to the hotel and I need to recharge on the plane just as I did with the last gen of macbook air. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I can confirm that Google Chrome is battery killer on my MacBook Air 2013 model.

My battery lasts at least 2-3 hours less if surfing internet using Google Chrome and i am not talking about watching YouTube videos. With streaming videos i can bet sittuation is even worse.

So big big advice, use Safari and ditch google chrome.

If you have google chrome installed it also might be running in background so that it will be able to show notifications. My advice is kill that beast (google chrome).

Also please check memory usage of google chrome in attached picture (just started chrome and nothing is opened in it)

On image you cant see additional Google Chrome Helper processes that starts when you open pages. User uploaded file

My advice if you run chrome please open activity monitor and watch over those things i mentioned.
