Touch ID not consistently recognizing my finger print

I'm having issues with Touch ID sometimes not recognizing my fingerprint. This seems to happen when my phone has been off for a while. I've tried re-enrolling my finger many times however the issue continues. This is also happening with other fingers. Often times it will take two or more attempts for recognition. Has anyone else had any issues?
