Q: iPad and iPhone not connecting by bluetooth

My iPhone 5 is not connecting to my iPad by bluetooth. I have reset both and and have the hotspot turned on. The phone does not even list the iPad and just sits there and spins looking for devices. The iPad has the phone listed but says "connection unsuccessful, make sure Linda's iPhone is on and in range" which it is. Anything else I can do?

Sorry you can't connect your iphone and ipad via bluetooth, however you can connect via hotspot.

Ok, so what I finally had to do was "forget this device" for both devices and then repair. That worked. Thank you.

Hi
Can you explain your response to me please? I was able to connect my iPad Air AND my Samsung Galaxy S4 via Bluetooth to my iPhone 5, and it worked perfectly well. However, in the last few days, I updated my iOS software, and now I am only able to connect my Samsung Galaxy!! Is there a reason for this, or is there a quick fix solution that you maybe able to offer me.

Crazybird1, would you please explain what you mean by "repair"? I accidentally hit the Ipad line to "forget this device" on my iphone. The ipad now is not listed anymore on the iphone. I tried Reset all Settings but it made no difference.

This was a while ago so I my memory of what I did is intact...I went to settings/bluetooth and removed the phone and the iPad both by selecting "forget this device". Then I did a "repair" by holding down the main screen button and the start button. This shuts the devices down and resets them. Doing this worked for me.
