Oct 4, 2013 9:00 AM in response to John Lockwoodby MacPaige,No, these files are typically around 100 MB each. Thanks for responding. I should add that I am able to convert some of the files...then there are some that will not convert (too short). I see many converters at the app store. Will any of these do the job?

Oct 4, 2013 9:03 AM in response to MacPaigeby John Lockwood,Actually if they are 100MB they could still be animated DVD menus along with the button definitions, actual titles will be typically much larger. If you can post a file listing with sizes for your VIDEO_TS folder that might help.
For those interested in 'exploring' a DVD have a look at the free utility MyDVDEdit available here http://www.mydvdedit.com

Oct 4, 2013 9:23 AM in response to John Lockwoodby MacPaige,I appreciate your help...
These are originally video clips of build instructions for RC aircraft that I created a few years back. I lost the original clips that I used to create DVDs for customers. The only thing I had left was a burned DVD...that is how I accessed the clips as Video_TS files (averaging around 100 MB each). The strange thing is that in using Streamclip, I was able to convert the first 5 clips, but after that it gave me the "too short" error. In addition, Streamclip would not allow me to open the clips...I had to drag the file to the app to get it to at least try and open. Once open, I would try and convert to Quicktime and that's when I would get the error.
The other error I'm getting is...Error: can't create MOV
I'm going to keep trying. I have been considering downloading one of the apps at the App Store...but I'm not sure which one.
I really do appreciate your effort to help.

Oct 4, 2013 10:36 AM in response to MacPaigeby Klaus1,You must also have the Apple mpeg2 plugin :
http://store.apple.com/us/product/D2187Z/A/quicktime-mpeg-2-playback-component-f or-mac-os-x
If you are running Lion or later:
From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion onwards, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it. See this:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3381
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. (The same applies to Mountain Lion even though that has it preinstalled.) You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

Oct 6, 2013 7:52 AM in response to MacPaigeby MacPaige,Okay...this is for anyone else that is having the same difficulty. I solved the problem by simply "saving" to the desktop as opposed to saving in the folder of origin (Video_TS Folder). By doing this, Streamclip quit giving me the error messages (i.e. "file is too small" and "cannot save MOV file).
I hope that this helps.
