Proxy settings (username and password) are not stored anymore.... Mac OS Lion, macPro

Hi all 🙂
First time here - search a lot, but still didn't find an answer. Need help or direction 🙂
Using laptop in corporate network, internet via proxy (both http and https) - simple user/password.

I do use locations. Used to save proxy IP address, port, user and password data in

Network Preferences - WiFi - Advanced - Proxies - Web Proxy (HTTP)

and

Network Preferences - WiFi - Advanced - Proxies - Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS)

all worked fine for month.

Suddenly user and password are not stored anymore - only IP adress and port - for both HTTP and HTTPS. I do fill them, but when returning back, find these fields empty.

My guest is something needs to be done in Keychain access, but I did not used it before...

Only thing that changed in my work - I got Ipad 2 with IOS 7.02 on it ...

Please help 🙂

Mac Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Your guest would be my guest as well.

First I would delete the two Wifi sites in Network Preferences.

Then remove all the keychain entries that relate to this WiFi access. Click on All Items in Category, and use the search bar. They shouldn't be too hard to find.

Then go to Keychain Access menu > Keychain First Aid, enter your password, repair, and start.

I don't know if a restart is necessary at this point but it wouldn't hurt.

You will have to go back in Network Prefs and enter the user and password.

If that doesn't work:

Another possibility is that the .plist file is corrupt.

To fix:

1. Hold down the option key.

2. In the Go menu in the Finder, scroll down to Library

3. In Library, find Preferences

4. In Preferences, find com.apple.systempreferences.plist and drag it to the trash

5. restart

6. This generates a new .plist file, so you will have to reenter your preferences.
