I Can't get netflix to work using a hdmi cable anymore. Messages says I need to disable airplay but I don't know how

iPad 2, iOS 7.0.2

    If you don't see the AirPlay icon:


    1. Turn off router, Apple TV and iPad


    2. Turn on router and then wait 30 seconds for it to complete start-up process


    3. Turn on Apple TV and then wait 30 seconds for it to complete start-up process


    4. Turn on iPad (wait 30 seconds) and test AirPlay

    TThanks for the reply. Maybe I wasn't clear - I don't have Apple TV. I just link my ipad to a regular tv with a hdmi cable. Until yesterday this worked fine but now it says I must disable airplay mirroring

    I am the same as Dalkusha    I link my ipad to regular tv using hdmi    was working fine til last night when it says disable airplay        No idea how to


    I connected hdmi to my iphone and it worked ok

    thanks, again but this still does not work. when i pull up my control panel there is no airplay icon. I presume this is because i have no Apple TV. so i cant toggle on and off as you suggest as there is no icon. However the Netflix app seems to assume that i am using airplay and wont let me use the hdmi cable until i stop

    I think you should get Netflix to help you resolve problem.

    Right, airplay is the way you'd connect the iPad to the apple tv. That's going to be in the iPads settings.

    Alright, so do you know offhand if you updated the app in iTunes or just on the device in general?

    it was a direct connection from my ipad to the television, via the a1438 lightning to hdmi adapter, searching the apple support forums, others using the same method as me are having issues as well and the general consensus was it was a netflix programming thing

    i have automatic updates set, i did remove the app from my device and reinstalled it hoping it would revert back to the previous app build

    hah the error started after the build released oct 2nd or so, and the actual error was something like "device not supported please disable airplay mirroring

    The update apparently is assuming each apple device that is trying to connect to a tv is trying to use airplay I believe

    Yeah, so it's an error on our end here, the research team had me issue a work ticket on your account so that they can make sure they are working on it for you as well as some others that this is happening to.

    it would probably be simple if apple just added a mirroring diable switch even without airplay items available... but good luck getting apple to do something.

    Yeah, sorry for the confusion about this! Whenever there's an update there's inevtiably going to be some bugs to work out, but rest assured we are aware of this issue and are working on fixing it for everyone. In the meantime just use another device to watch Netflix on, or just use the iPad without connecting to the TV. This should be fixed here shortly though.

    Right, and we actually work with the manufacturers on developing their version of the apps, so it was kind of on both us and apple here. But we are working to fix. I appreciate you're understand of the situation though!!! I'm glad you chatted in to report it.

    This is true. Everything worked automatically, and since late last week, no more netflix playing via connector. Also, same applies with Amazon Instant Movie app. I replaced the connector, reformatted my ipad and downgraded to IOS7.0. Nothing. Rebooted the router just in case.... still nothing.

    Yeah same for me. I don't have anything for airplay to even work with. I just connect hdmi to the tv and watch netflix. The update broke that though.  There's already news all over the net just they keep suggesting this mirroring thing but I don't even have airplay. I never had it. Its now down below or anywhere. I only own an iPad, no other devices.

    TThere is an ipad update for netflix, just downloaded update on ipad and works fine on normal tv

    Hello everyone, still not working after the Netflix update.  It sometimes plays (after disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI or VGA to lighting connector) BUT after a few seconds it stops working.


    Please let us know when it works continuously and stable for anyone.  Thx.
