Q: iPhone still linked to old Apple ID

Hello,

I had an iPhone 4S which I sold to one of my friends, apparently the iPhone was linked to my Apple ID through "Find my iPhone".

A few days ago my friend upgraded to iOS7.02 and when the phone booted we see on the screen the following message:

"This iPhone is currently linked to an Apple ID (s*****@w*****.com). Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPhone"

Unfortunately this is a very old account which I don't use anymore and don't know the password for that account, but when I signed in to

http://www.icloud.com/find with my new Apple ID. I saw the iphone 4S under that accout and followed the manual to remove it so it

won't be linked to my account.

I have been waiting and also tried to restore the iPhone, still it asks for the old Apple ID...

What I can do to remove it and restore the iPhone?

Thank you in advanced.

Sharon

What do you mean "nothing from Apple?" You need to put in the original Apple ID and corresponding password that was used to set up the phone originally. Apple ID are not "deactivated". If that ID and password are not working, then they are not the ones that were used to activate the phone originally.

    There is nothing more...

That is the same id which I used to setup an iphone, when I am trying to enter any other id it gives me error that id cannot be used, but if I enter my original id whose initials it is displaying, it is still giving error that this id cannot be used to unlock this phone. I don't have any other id, I have only one email address since past 7 years and I am using that one everywhere, there is no chance of any other id and this is the new phone I bought from Apple store directly, I am the first owner and I set it up.

It doesn't actually matter that the yahoo email address has been lost, you would still be able to sign into iCloud if you had the correct password for your Apple account. Of course, now that you've reset the password you have a real problem since you can't access the link to create a new password.

Have you explained to Apple over the phone that your Yahoo email account has been recycled and lost?

Go to iCloud.com sign in and remove your Device from Find My iPhone, then restore your device in DFU/Recovery mode, it will not ask you for the apple id again.

That will not work if people don't know the Apple ID.
