Consecutive Events Display

When I enter consecutive events (e.g. a mtg. from 10-11, then another mtg. 11-12) they don't appear one after the other as expected (in week or day view). The two events "split" to half the column width, the earlier one on the left and the later one on the right. The only way I can find to get them to display correctly is to add a gap between them (e.g. 10-11, 11:15-12). It doesn't seem to matter if they're on the same calendar or different calendars.

However, I've noticed that an event scheduled "during" another event displays as expected - in front of or behind the other event, as though "layered". It seems to happen only when the end of one event matches the start of another event. Anyone?
