I am unable to send emails from a POP3 email account, though I can receive them. I have tried using different ports for the outgoing smpt server: 25, 587 and neither works. I have contacted my ISP provider who is not blocking port 25 (which was suggested)

I am unable to send emails from a POP3 account on my macbook pro. I can receive them. SMTP outgoing mail server ports 25 and 587 have been tried. I have followed the threads suggesting BT Homehub may be the problem and have adjusted settings. All to no avail. Any help will be gratefully received. All works fine on my IPAD (smpt port 587) and my Iphone. It is simply on the computer that this problem exists. The Apple support information suggested the ISP might be blocking port 25 - I have phone them and they are not doing this. So I am at my wits end!

My apologies - my ignorance - I didn't understand the question. I use Mail on my Mac. There are 3 email accounts enabled - an Icloud one (off which I run an alias), a gmail one, and my work one (and I don't know the mail provider) - incoming mail is POP.acornchristian.org, outgoing is: smtp.acornchristian.org.

I hope that is the answer you need - your help would be greatly appreciated.

With thanks.

I will check with my employer whether any further settings are needed apart from the following (which were supplied to me to enable me to set up the account on my machine at home):-

Incoming mail server (POP3)

Username

Password

Outgoing mail server (SMTP)

Email address

I have tried checking and unchecking SSL and selecting port 587 and allowing the defaults to operate (25, 587)

Thank you

In order to set up the email account I was provided with the following information:-

Incoming Mail Server (POP3) (port 110 used)

Username

Password

Outgoing mail server (SMTP) (ports 25 or 587 used)

Email Address

When running a port scan on my mac I find that ports 25 and 587 are not open. BT is not blocking them.

I will check if Tollon requires any further settings, other than those above, in order to set up the email account. No other settings were requested during the set up process.

Thank you
