My old computer has crashed, and I cannot hook my iPod to it... how to transfer to new computer?

My old computer has crashed, and I cannot connect my iPod to it, as my C drive was erased. I cannot follow the procedures of hooking to my old computer to enable the iPod to be able to be used as a disc drive. My iPod is an earlier 30gb model, not a touch.
All my iTunes songs and libraries are on my iPod- how can I connect directly to my new computer to transfer the content from my iPod to my new computer?
