Why does my iPad 2 keep dropping wifi connection and even forgets wifi connection after iOS 7 update?
iPad 2, iOS 7.0.2
I have had people have sucess by doing this. Stop by your local Apple store. One person was able to demonstrate the issue right in the store by showing them that their device is only connecting at the 5 Ghz range(the Apple employee at the store verified this on the store's wireless router). I also heard that another person actually brought their wireless router into the store and showed them that it would not connect (remember the problem is that you cannot get a DHCP address from your wireless router because of low signal strength. Finally what you could always do is to replace your wireless router with a dual band router that has the 5Ghz channel(s) as a last resort (I feel that the customer should not have to do that, but it is a path). Also have seen that since 4/2012 Apple is aware of this issue: http://9to5mac.com/2012/04/04/apple-investigating-new-ipad-wifi-issues-tells-app lecare-to-replace-affected-units/
thanks for the reply, i will see if my busy schedule permits to visit the Apple Care store and will post the outcome either way money needs to be spend somehow ...😝
This is ridiculous, so many people with the same problem after upgrading their software. Surely Apple have do something about this! Nobody seems to have a solution that works, help!!
I have noticed that the wifi is usually dropped when the connection is being taxed (downloading from Apple store, streaming YouTube or Netflix).
Hey apple - what's up with this huh?
Same issue here, ipad 3 recently updated to 7.1 and have had connectivity issues, connection is fine. But speed VERY slow, set wap to separate 5ghz didn't fix it.
This has fixed mine for the present time!
I've had this problem for a long time. Read through most of the thread and tried most of the suggestions.
Then went to Settings>General>Bluetooth and turned off Bluetooth.
Problem has gone away! Yippee!!!
I tried EVERYTHING....nothing worked! Total disappointment; however, sadly enough after reading a thread whereas someone recommended investing on a new router as a his permanent fix...I did...and alas...PROBLEM SOLVED!!! Still upset...needlessly expending money to fix a wifi issue from an evident update. Luckily we did not install the new update on my wife's Ipad and she remained connected all throughout with our former router.

I'm the one that actually discovered the actual issue and explained it to the product t development team at Apple. I worked the problem with them for 3 months before they agreed to replace the ipad. Many models are affected including the iPhone 5. If you search 9to5mac Web page you'll find a screen capture of an internal memo that Apple has known of this issue sine 2012. My opinion is they don't want the public to know they have a serious issue and have no resolution.
Just use this trick. Go to settimg. select wifi that you use now. forget it. Then reconnect again. After connect see the details. Look up for http proxy selecting AUTO. then look up the dns. Rewrite it to 8.8.8.8. Settle. Good Luck. It works on my Ipad 2 IOS 7.0.6.
My ipad 2 can't find any router anywhere. Having to reset is a **** nuisance.
Somebody said it before so I thought would give it a try. Lost wifi again this afternoon. Switched off the Bluetooth. Lo and behold wifi on again!
same problem here. I finally reset my modem and that helped, but it only has wifi for a few minutes, then drops it, help Apple
We have 2 iPad 2 in our home but only one of them had the WiFi problem. I had a SMC modem bridged with a dlink-655 and the signal would constantly drop. Reading other forums I discovered that it could be the issue of the modem itself so I swapped the SMC for a Hitron modem still bridged with dlink-655 and haven't had issues since.
