    Update.  Since my original post a few months ago, my wi-fi signal has continued to deteriorate, then my 3g stopped working, then a day later, my wi-fi died completely and I couldn't get a signal at all.


    At this point, I made an appointment with the apple store as I couldn't limp along anymore. Although the wi-fi signal detioration started right after my ois7 update, I'm thinking now maybe it was a coincidence and the device just started to implode after having it 2 years.


    After the diagnostics check, apple said there were 3 different hardware items that were broken on my device. My harddrive failed, my antenae was broken and a 3rd thing (the hardware that enables the tilt feature) was also broken on my ipad. It seemed like it was all linked somehow as it was all fine until it wasn't, then everything started going a little haywire until it stopped working completely. Luckily I was able to back it up before returning it. I could still save my files onto my computer, so that's something.  SO BACK UP YOUR FILES PEOPLE...


    SO, the story ends for me with no fix to the issue. I had to buy another ipad at my expense. They did replace my ipad2 at a 'discounted" rate of $250 + tax cost. As you can imagine, I'm not happy that a device I paid $600 for only lasted a couple of years before a catostrophic and unrepairable failure to the hardware.  Apple did say hardware issues like that are very rare, but that didn't make me feel any better about forking over almost $300 for another one. They also confirmed that it couldn't have been user damage as I've never replaced my screen or any components and the device was dent free and showed no signs of wear.


    A couple of other things to note. My first ipad2 was defective and only lasted 3 months. It failed during the warranty period and the replacement one was a factory is the 3rd one that I just bought today.  They claim refurbs are like new...but it makes you wonder if there is a difference in quality as it failed prematurely.  


    For the others on this thread, are your ipads refurbs and are they about 2 years old? I wonder if we just got a bad batch of ipads where the defect didn't manifest itself until now.

    Sorry to hear that P024008. I've found that my wifi is not broken completely as it stills find the signal when I sit next to the router. So I send my ipad 2 to the apple store but because I drop Ipad a few times and they said it no longer in warrantee and the weak signal caused by dropping the Ipad. Paying around 120$ will fix the problem. I've try explain to them that it works before I updated IOS 7. I know it hards to believe that blaming IOS7 instead of dropping an ipad is a cause.


    Anyway, apple knews the real problems and they ignore it that really impress me. *grin*


    Now i'm give up with my ipad. I will lets it limp better than paying 100 bucks for a repair.


    I'm thinking about next device which is not i-overpriced-product.


    I've own ibook, macbook and ipad. I can't believe that all of products I own got problem.

    For ibook, the logicboard broken and the battery drain quickly after a few month.

    Then macbook's gpu burned without the notice after 1 years, after the warrantee.

    Now the Ipad 2.....


    How lucky I am.

    Same problem here.  The only difference is that both my iPhone and iPad drop the WiFi connection after a few minutes - even if I'm using them and in the middle of doing something.   Both are on 7.0.4.  I've tried all the tricks above - some get the WiFi to stay connected for an hour or so before resuming the problem as before.  Nothing (so far) has fixed it.


    Do Apple care that they've screwed up?  Do they have any intention of fixing this error?


    The quickest fix, I find, is to toggle Airplane Mode on and off again - that brings the WiFi up instantly.  I wonder if those clever people out in the non-Apple world can come up with an app to toggle Airplane Mode whenever the WiFi drops and the iThing is in use.

    We have an iPad Air and a 4th gen iPad.  Both were perfect Apple Just Works devices until iOS 7.  Now the wifi keeps freaking out.  I have access to at least 4 different networks depending on where I am.  It is NOT the router firmware.  It did not happen until iOS 7.  Rebooting the iPads works for a while.  When the problem arises, I can't get anything out of any network until I reboot.  Sometimes it is so bad that it will not connect to any networks anymore.  Networks include a Linksys router, the hotspot on my Android phone, a CradlePoint 4G modem, and a Cisco wireless access point. 


    Let me be very clear here.  This is a problem with the iPad software that started with iOS 7.  I'm a data communications analyst and Network Operations Center manager for a company with hundreds of remote network locations. 


    Apple I love how well your tablets work compared to others but this problem is annoying.  Please acknowledge it and fix it.

    Ios 7 brought me my problems on my IPAD2 and per my thread, on Dec 18 after a rebuild, problems went away even with 802.1n still on. Well guess what. IOS7.0.6 comes out, i do they update and my problem is back. Occurs once about every 30 min. I think IOS 7.1 will be out in march and i am thinking of waiting for it.

    My Ipad 2 ran fine for 2 weeks after updating to IOS 7.0.6 then started running slow and not connecting, runs slow at the library which has been very fast in the past, this is disappointing. Do anyone at apple read these comments?

    I was having iPad2 wifi problems as well.  I know for sure that after iOS 7 update the problem occured all the time.  For a  temporary fix I would reset my wifi setting but the problem keeps coming back.  Finally I bought a new router for $30 on sale.  The new router was dual band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Western Digital n750.  Everything seems to be working fine.  The iPad 2 only recognized the 5 GHz band and I think my old router was only 2.4GHz.  Interestingly my wifes iPhone 4 and my iPhone 4S defaulted to the 2.4 GHz band.  My PC also defaulted to the 2.4 GHz router frequency while my 2011 Macbook Air recognized both the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz frequencies.  It is unfortunate that I had to replace my wireless router to fix the problem but my new router has two USB ports so I can connect a hard drive to all my devices wirelessly.  This should also help my storage limitations on the 16 Gb iPad 2.  My old router was a Belkin.

    No, there are 44,000 views but only 66 messages and some of those are not having issues but attempting to help others oe just complaining in general.


    I administer 20 +pads and have only 1 reported issue with connection issues which we belive are related to his cable router provider.

    This is why in my original thread I suggested people to try a simple test.....if you can't connect to your SSID and you used to be able to, try physically placing it on top of the router (even 6 inches is too far) and it it connects and you only have a single band router operating on at the 2.4 Ghz range, BINGO this is most likely their issue.  Then I suggest to call Apple reference the three case numbers (even if you do not have Apple Care) and take it from there.  Like one person debated with me that it was my iPad or router.....I replied to them and said do you really think Apple would have replaced my 2 year old iPad, opened multiple cases for me without Apple Care nor paying the $20, and sent me a brnad new iPod Touch for my time and effort if they did not think this was their issue?  No way would Apple do that....period.

    Have had the same problem and tried ALL of the Apple fixes, ready to toss the Ipad and get a real tablet: Android or Windows. This just reinforces my lifetime disdain for Apple. There is NO reason (other than sabotage) that a device worked for years with a certain router and then suddenly when upgraded does not any longer,   I am 1000% convinced that they make updates crash older Apple products to try to force you to purchase newer ones, Apple is a scam.


    Don't be a sucker, stop buying Apple crap!

    Did you happen to try the test....Put the ipad on the wireless router and try to join the network?  Just curious if it will indeed connect. If it does can you post the 5 digit number on the back of the ipad. The one we have is an A1416 which did not work until it was replaced. Thanks.
