We've gone through several iPod shuffles over the past year and a half. We get a new one, sync and charge it. A couple weeks later it just dies. Think it's something with computer settings. Any ideas?

We've gone through several iPod shuffles over the past year and a half. Previous ones were enabled for disc space and when we tried to eject them, the amber light continued to flash so we would eventually just disconnect it from the computer. When the iPod would just quit working in the following week, we assumed it was because of something in this process. Once we disabled our replacement iPods for disc space we were able to safely eject/disconnect iPod. However, the new iPod still died within a week. Can anyone offer any assistance as to why this is happening? We are assuming at this point it is a setting in our computer. But everything else we connect to it works fine (Garmin, cell phone, camera, flashdrives, etc...). HELP!
