My ipad will not connect to wifi after upgrade to ios7

My less than one year old iPad Mini will not connect to wifi after upgrade to iOS7. I've done all the suggested fixes. Taken it to public wifi areas (e.g. Starbucks)...no success. Scrubbed the iPad clean and started over...nothing. Upgraded my modem firmware and even purchased a new modem and router....nada. The iPad sees all the networks, but comes back with the "Unable to connect to this network" error. During this time, all other wireless devices in my home were working fine (two other iPads have no problem connecting....they have not been upgraded to iOS7 yet). My free upgrade has now cost me $130...not to mention my frustration and time. I have taken it to my local Apple support center only to be told it is iOS7. I depend on this iPad for work, school and many other things and find this really unacceptable. I now have a $600 piece of junk.

Before iOS7, I had no issues whatsoever so I have a hard time believing it has anything to do with my network. And, to be told I need to be in the same room as the modem/network is insulting.

Seriously considering a Windows tablet at this point.

Some things to try first:

1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

• Launch Settings app

• Tap on Wi-Fi

• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. You may have many open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign.

Still no resolution after getting run around by the local Apple dealer and the place I purchased. I can connect to my computer to download games and music, but that is it. So my iPad is now a really expensive Nintendo DS. I'm done with Apple. Ordered a Goggle Android tablet (Nexus 7). It is working great and has some pretty awesome features. I will be replacing my iPhone 5 as well, which btw after the upgrade to iOS7 drops texts, will not send texts, drains the battery quickly and has considerbly slowed down the phone.

It's obviously not a universal problem with iOS 7, my iPad 3 and iPhone 4s are working fine with WiFi after updating to iOS 7. I'm sure if and when Apple are able to determine why some devices are having this problem they will issue a fix for it as soon as they can.

A new Apple product announcement is happening on Tuesday, probably new iPads. It would come as no surprise if a new version of iOS 7 was released with the new iPads to address some of the issues people are having with 7.0.2 and earlier. Fingers crossed.

So, I have EXACTLY the same thing with my iPad mini purchased last December.

I woke up one morning, it was disconnected from my home network and wouldn't connect.

Made my phone a hotspot, which I always have connected it to in the past, and it wouldn't connect.

Took it to work's public hotspot, it wouldn't connect.

Tried and tried and tried and tried and tried.

Always with the message "Unable to connect to the _____________ network."

Decided it is a piece of garbage, took it to best buy to trade it in for a Samsung and cut my losses.

(I can make up any more time I spend on this by just picking up a shift from work and using that to cover the cost.

I would rather be at my job that I can't stand than trying to figure this out.)

As I am showing it to the guy at Best Buy and telling him my plans to trade it in,

He connects it to the Best Buy network and it works just fine.

I take it out to the parking lot, make my phone a hotspot, and it connects to that just fine.

!

I walk in the front door to my apartment, and it is unable to connect to my home network.

I make my phone a hotspot again, and it is unable to connect that that.

I reset the router to its factory settings. and it is unable to connect.

I use the factory set password from the router (Xfinity) and it is unable to connect.

I try it again.

I try it again.

I try it again.

I try it again.

I try it again.

I physically lay the ipod mini on the router and I try to connect.

I try it again.

I try it again.

It connects.

It is now tethered to my laptop, restoring the backup in iTunes, and it has an hour to go.

Even with the success of connecting, I hate this process.

PS None of the answers that anyone has given here have been helpful.

I am not saying I don't have an appreciation for the spirit of help being given.

I am saying that the "solutions" so far have not been solutions.

I have been googling this for days.

I don't need to upgrade to a retina display so I can see more clearly that it won't connect.
