Trouble in deleting part of text messages with new update

Ok so does anyone know if on i phone 5 with update ios7.0.2 in regards to deleting text messages, why is is that it removes all text messages from that person, when I only wanted to delete what was not important to keep

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.0.2

Go to the text, tap and hold, select More from the menu, and tap on the trash can icon. That will delete only that particular text, leaving the rest of the conversation.
