After upgrade to ios7 no txt sounds on iphone5 when docked to speaker/charger

After upgrading from ios 6 to ios 7.0.2 I am now not getting text sound alerts on my iphone 5 when it's connected to my JBL onbeat micro charger dock. The sounds are being routed to the speaker even if the dock is off! If I switch on the dock, texts sounds can be heard on the dock'a speakers.

This started happening after ios 6->7 upgrade.

When I disconnect the iphone from the dock, sound comes back to the phone.

Is there a way to choose where the sound should go? or is it just another ios7 bug? I don't have a separate wall charger, this is the only way I can charge my phone, and when I do, I keep missing important texts! Please help!
