iPad 2 smart cover not working after iOS 7 update

I have the iPad 2, last week I installed the latest software update, ever since then the smart cover no longer puts the iPad to sleep/wakes it when opening or closing the cover. Anyone have any idea why this is happening or how to fix? Any help is greatly appreciated!
