You need to find out which model of iPhone it is. If it was maufactured to be sold in the United States, it's either AT&T, Verizon, Sprint or T-Mobile. Once you know that, then you'll know how to proceed.

Return it the same way you acquired it. Certainly you did not drive to KS from VA to purchase an iPhone.

NexTech is a CDMA carrier. They do not offer unlocking. The OP is hosed. They can either move to the area serviced by NexTech and establish service with them, sell the phone to someone who wants to use NexTech, or return the phone from whence they bought it for a refund.

Other than throwing it in the trash or leaving it in a drawer, those are pretty much the only realistic options.

Thanks, but I didn't need to know that. I provided an answer about the way the iPhone was manufactured.. Your additional information neither adds to nor subtracts from the information I provided.

No only is that statement factually incorrect, it also completely ignores the fact that the OP ALREADY STATED what carrier the phone is for... Oh... and by the way... IT IS NOT ONE OF THOSE.
