Windows 8 smart phone...can't send email since release of the latest OS operating system from that device... HELP!

I have a windows 8 smart phone. I had been receiving and sending emails without any issues from that device. Unfortunately, since the latest version of the OS operating system was recently released, I have not been able to send email... HELP! I am receiving email without issue, but can't send anything. The settings are all correct... I've "deleted" the account and reloaded it several times... Nothing is working. The account is currently showing up as "Not up-to-date"

As an alternative...

Can I send emails from a different account (ie. yahoo, gmail, etc?). If yes... how would I set that up?

This is my main email account and I need to be able to send emails from this account. Your help is greatly appreciated!
