iPhone 4S Won't Charge After iOS7 Update

After updating my 6 month old 4S to iOS 7 it worked fine for about 3 days then it suddenly stopped charging and subsequently died, since then it has been sat on my desk dead as it will not charge what so ever. I have tried 5 different cables and 3 different charging methods, wall, PC and car and the phone detects that the charger is plugged in but doesn't charge. This suggests to me that whatever sends power from the charging socket to the battery is broken. Thoughts?

I have a similar problem. I have an iPhone 4s that was working perfectly. Almost immediately upon upgrading to iOS7 I noticed that the battery began to drain much quicker. This morning when I tried to recharge the battery it would not recharge. I followed brad805's suggestions. When I took it to the Genius Bar they attempted to remove the battery and directly power the phone from a cable and that did not work. The phone is now completely dead and because it is past the one year warranty period, there is little that the people at the Apple Store can do to help me. I took very good care of the phone when I owned it and there were no incidents to the phone in the time since I upgraded to iOS7. I strongly believe that the upgrade to iOS7 is the contributing factor to this phone failure.

Is there a mechanism to register a complaint with Apple? I understand that phones fail from time to time but based on the posts I am seeing on the internet, I fear that there are additional instances like mine.

I have this problem too ... and my ex-wife, both of us using iPhone 4s with iOS7.

Turning the phone off and rebooting helps but still recurs the next time you charge. What the **** sort of service is this? Can't Apple release something without it being riddled with bugs and mistakes?

Are Apple going to resolve this with an OS fix anytime soon?

Same problem. AT&T iPhone 4s.

Never a problem charging with Apple, USB, or third party power sources and Apple or Amazon cables.

Then upgraded to 7.0.3 and charging became very intermittant with "accessory not supported" warnings or just lack of any charge icon.

Basically it would only start charging if dead flat. I've tried all my cables and power sources and none work.

I guess it's possible that the hardware had a failure the same day as the IOS upgrade, but it seems like the upgrade is involved.

Two, or three, or a dozen, or even a hundred out of 300 million can still be a coincidence. There ARE problems that affect a lot of phones; they have thousands of posts. One earlier in the year had 2 million views and 15,000 posts in a single thread, and even that problem only affected people using corporate Exchange server accounts where the user deleted a single calendar event from a repeat event that had no end date. A pretty small number of users.

And the charging problem is not unique to iOS 7; the same problem has been reported with every other version of iOS, which means that either every version has had the same bug, or it is a coincidence.

If you want to insist it is an iOS 7 problem that will be fixed in a later release you can think that if you want to, but it won't solve your problem.

I am assuming that three iPhone 4s users who know each other, having downloaded iOS7 recently, all of whom have the same charging issue with their phone on the same day, in conjunction with many others here (I haven't counted the number of threads or comments) means that it is highly likely that the problem is with the iOS update.

You are making the mistake that it would affect 300 million users: why? How do you know that each of those 300 million users has an iPhone 4s? Will they all have updated to iOS7? Maybe they haven't downloaded the latest version? What other differences in software/hardware might affect the performance and cause the charging issue? Making assumptions about the blend of hardware and software (and the versions of both) and considering them all to be a homogenous sample is not good research practise.

Thank you for telling me that I can think what I want, I think I will as it is OK with you.

Yes. I updated to OS7 just a few days ago. Yes, my battery was discharging very quickly after that. This morning I woke up to see the battery wasn't fully charged. I tried various adaptors and usb cables that we have at home. They don't seem to do anything. Also now I have to have the iphone 4S connected via USB to my computer - like a phone on life support you might say. But itunes doesn't recognise the phone anymore either.

This is **** apple. Very ****!

Note my phones only problem was that it wasn't charging.

I took it to the GeniusBar. Connector had some corrosion from being in my pocket 2 years. They pulled it open and determined the phone was fine except the dock connector wasn't passing current to the battery. Offered me a new phone for $200.

Instead I took it to a non Apple shop for repair. Spent $100 for new dock ($30) plus new battery ($30) and labor ($40). I just prefer fixing things to replacing.
