Getting my imac(intel) to recognize Axiom 25 midi keyboard

G.B. (ver.6.0.5) on my imac (ver. 10.6.8) refuses to acknowledge either of my midi devices, Axiom 25 Controller or M-Audio Fire Wire Solo. I know the connections are functioning because they both work in Live8.
