Q: Sim card help

I have an iphone 3 and just updated it. Now it doesn't recognize the sim card at all. I tried turning off the wifi, shutting off the phone, and taking out the sim card and putting it back in, nothing worked. Would anyone have an idea of how to fix this?

iPhone 3G, iOS 6.0.1
