My phone won't make calls after being abroad

I Just returned to the states from Spain. I have an iphone 5 and I had it in airport mode with the wifi turned on while abroad. I have downloaded the most current iOS. But now, with cellular turned on again (airplane mode off) I can't send or receive calls and I can't receive texts (although I can send them). Help!

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.2

Apple is full of crap. I just returned from

Brazil after spending a year there as a teaching fellow. When I tried to reconnect my iPhone 6 (only a year old) to my old carrier it wouldn't connect. When I went into apple they said this is a common issue and they can't do anything about. I was forced to buy a new phone even though my phone was in great working condition. If this has been an issue since 2013 you would think you would have found a solution by now.

Hello Carmella864,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  1. Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings, turn airplane mode on, wait three seconds, and then turn off again.
  2. Restart your iPhone.
  3. Ensure that your software is up to date:
  4. Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
  5. If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try toggling it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
  6. Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still does not, contact your carrierto report the issue.
  7. Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
  8. Restore the iPhone as new.
  9. Contact your carrier

Best of luck,

Mario
