I just bought the 15 inch Pro with Retina display. While setting it up (less than five minutes usage), I noticed that the bottom part of the laptop was getting hot , towards the screen. Is this normal?

Yes, that's normal. Download iStat Pro and you can keep an eye on temps.
Thank you for the reply. I was about to add one more detail. I could feel the heat on my lap within a few minutes. I have used Windows laptops before (Lenovo, Sony) with same specs but they never had this problem.
Believe it or not, it's not meant to be used on your lap, or anything soft/cushiony. It prevents air flow to cool the MBP. If you want to use it on your lap, get a laptop tray or something of the sort so there's a hard surface under it.
