Hello,
I have a Mac Mini with Mountain Lion installed (10.8.5) and I an trying to use F3 as a normal function key. i have tried turning it of in the Keyboard pane in System Prefences, but it still brings up the Desktops. I have even gone into Keyboard Shortcuts, but it still brings up the Desktops. How can I use it as a normal Function key?

Hello, not on 10.8 to remember what they changed the name to, maybe Launchpad??? anyway, in earlier OSes it was Sys Prefs Expose & Spaces that had setting for F keys to bring up Windows & Desktops, I'd hunt in there.

You are thinking of System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts
