Why do I have a book highlighted as a " pre-order" when I did not order it?

Hello

Today I noticed i-books was badged so opened the store to find a book with the word "pre-order" highlighted in orange, along with a $ amount.

The problem is that I did not "pre-order" this book nor order/purchase anything recently.

I do recall having searched the author some weeks ago, but that was all.

Questions....

Am I somehow compelled to make this purchase when the book does become available despite not having ordered it (knowingly)?

Is there some way to un-highlight this item from the store without (accidentally) finalising its purchase somehow? (Am new to all of this so have no idea how this works).

Lastly, if this is some sort of automatic purchase of sorts, then I am obviously missing some required settings to prevent it from happening in the first place.

Any advice or help regarding the correct/appropriate settings to prevent such an occurrence/recurrence would be gratefully received thank you.

Appreciate your assistance, thanks.

The orange 'pre-order' text and the orange background to its price is just distinguishing that the book is a pre-order (all books that are available as pre-orders should look like that) - it doesn't mean that you have pre-ordered it.

You can view, and optionally cancel, any pre-orders on your account via your computer's iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5714
